Ferry Crossings from Portsmouth to Cherbourg

Brittany Ferries sail twice per day from Portsmouth to Cherbourg with the high speed ferry taking 3 hours.  Road and rail access to Portsmouth makes it the most connected port in the UK directly off the M27 with links to the M3 and M25.  The coastal roads from Cherbourg offer a great deal of seaside resorts and harbours within reach in the car, the N13 takes you to major roads for Brittany, the Loire, and further south.

Cherbourg has a history that goes back to Roman times and the old part of the town is centred around the old basin, the fishing port.  The town is worth a visit even if you are just passing by for one of the hypermarkets that Cherbourg and the surrounding area offer.  The biggest hypermarket is in Carrefour at Octeville on the N13.
